Nope! There are no fees for participating, and you will only be charged if you win the upgrade.
SeatBoost follows a traditional live-auction format. As such, just like in any live auction, once a bid is submitted, it is considered final and cannot be canceled. This allows the auction to properly work for all participants.
If you’re in the top five on the leaderboard, you automatically make it to the final round which begins with 60 seconds left in the auction. You will have an opportunity to place a final bid by keying in how much you’d like to add on to your current bid. A calculator function in the app shows you what your total bid will be. Good luck!
If you win an upgrade, the gate agent will assign you a seat in your new class based on what is available. Please note that SeatBoost winners can be placed in a middle seat if window or aisle seats are unavailable.
This may be because you are traveling with someone else. If this is the case, please see the gate agent and ask them to split your reservation, a.k.a your PNR (Passenger Name Record). Once split, you should be able to enter the auction and bid for an upgrade.
Unfortunately, due to the fact that our auctions end minutes before boarding, we are unable to include free luggage in your upgrade.
Please note that we can only issue refunds in a scenario in which an upgrade was unable to be granted to the individual, independent of choice. This happens very rarely. If for some reason you were unable to utilize your upgrade, we’re here to help. Please send us a refund request here or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, and once we review it we’ll issue any necessary refunds. Refunds can take 5-10 days to process once issued. Please do remember that because SeatBoost is a live auction, all bids are considered final, and we cannot issue a refund for the purpose of reversing a winning bid.
You’ll see a charge on your statement under ‘SeatBoost.’
